Grant assistance for Gary residents

The $ 20,000 grant was utilized to serve Gary residents with housing and utility assistance and to provide food assistance through the two SVDP Food Pantries that serve Gary residents, St. Ann SVDP and Holy Spirit SVDP. Since the first week of September, SVDP Council has assisted individuals and families with rent, mortgage, water, sanitation or NIPSCO totaling $ 15,000 of the grant fund. 

$ 5,000 of the grant was used to purchase non-perishable food items, grocery gift cards and/or fresh food to distribute through the food pantries to our neighbors in need in the city of Gary.
